The Covid-19 medical emergency left its mark on 2020, a year that experienced the postponement of most cultural events of great national relevance. Among these, the Venice Biennale of Architecture has been postponed until Summer 2021.
Nevertheless, this temporary break hasn’t discouraged the Biennale’s administration from opening the Serenissima’s Gardens to entertain local visitors and tourists; from 29th August 2020, Italy’s pavilion has become the focal point of a busy schedule of events. Meanwhile, the Venice pavilion has become the location of the project “Extraordinary Openings”, organised by the municipality to provide a space where local cultural entities which have been particularly affected by the crisis are allowed to express themselves for free.

This neoclassical-looking building, originally designed to host local, rather than international, artistic productions, has been subject over the years to constant and significant restoration work led by Ideal Work, which itself has a long history of commitment to supporting local culture and events.
The project aims to completely coat the floors in the Pavilion’s two rooms with Nuvolato Architop®, a brutalist-looking innovative surface able to recreate, in just a few millimetres thickness, concrete’s typical robustness with a modern, refined look that perfectly suits this kind of environment.
