The Covid-19 medical emergency left its mark on 2020, a year that experienced the postponement of most cultural events of great national relevance. Among these, the Venice Biennale of Architecture has been postponed until Summer 2021.
Nevertheless, this temporary break hasn’t discouraged the Biennale’s administration from opening the Serenissima’s Gardens to entertain local visitors and tourists; from 29th August 2020, Italy’s pavilion has become the focal point of a busy schedule of events. Meanwhile, the Venice pavilion has become the location of the project “Extraordinary Openings”, organised by the municipality to provide a space where local cultural entities which have been particularly affected by the crisis are allowed to express themselves for free.
This neoclassical-looking building, originally designed to host local, rather than international, artistic productions, has been subject over the years to constant and significant restoration work led by Ideal Work, which itself has a long history of commitment to supporting local culture and events.
The project aims to completely coat the floors in the Pavilion’s two rooms with Nuvolato Architop®, a brutalist-looking innovative surface able to recreate, in just a few millimetres thickness, concrete’s typical robustness with a modern, refined look that perfectly suits this kind of environment.
Ideal Work’s Commercial Director, Luca Seminati, stated that their approach is to make the company’s innovative materials and know-how available to contribute in a consistent and respectful way to support a place of great interest, in order to give it a new and renewed splendour.
This is just the latest occasion on which the company has shown its dedication for Venetian sites of cultural-historical interest; in the past, Ideal Work has already participated in the restoration of the Biennale’s Israeli pavilion, an important mosaic in the Basilica di San Marco and of Palazzo Ducale’s Sala del Piovego.
Ideal Work materials have already been applied to a number of Italian prestigious cultural-historical places of interest such as the Botanic Garden at Padova’s University, the innovative Auditorium di Ravello designed by famous architect Oscar Niemeyer, the Teatrino di Palazzo Grassi, designed through Tadao Ando’s creative genius, the famous Messner Mountain Museum designed by Zaha Hadid, Murano’s Glass Museum and the futuristic Prada Foundation in Milan; all places where Ideal Work’s surfaces complement and enhance the value of the artworks on display.
